About the position

Perdue Farms is seeking a Live Production Manager for our Growout facility located in Ahoskie. This pivotal role is responsible for managing and directing the Live Production operations that support our plant processing locations. The Live Production Manager will ensure competitive performance, oversee budgeting, planning, and scheduling, and maintain compliance with all local, county, state, and federal regulations related to poultry production. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our operations align with the company's goal of becoming the most trusted name in premium proteins while adhering to our commitment to animal welfare and food safety. In this role, the Live Production Manager will analyze trends and variable tasks to identify problem areas or successes, taking appropriate action to maximize productivity in line with the company's philosophy and goals. Effective communication with subordinates, peers, senior management, and external personnel is essential to ensure performance and resolve any issues that may arise. The manager will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Live Production budgets for their assigned area, ensuring compliance with bio-security, food safety, and poultry welfare programs and policies at all times. The position may require travel to various Growout facilities, poultry houses, and research farms to monitor conditions and ensure bird health. The Live Production Manager must be physically capable of working in diverse environments, including hatcheries, feed mills, chicken houses, and processing plants, while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide direction for Live Production operations to support plant processing locations.
• Analyze trends and variable tasks to identify problem areas or successes and take appropriate action.
• Communicate effectively with subordinates, peers, senior management, and non-company personnel to ensure performance and resolution of problems.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Live Production budgets for assigned area.
• Ensure compliance with company requirements regarding bio-security, food safety, and poultry welfare programs and policies.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Travel to Growout facilities, poultry houses, and research farms to monitor conditions and ensure bird health.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in poultry production or management.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel by vehicle to various locations as required.
• Strong reading, math, writing, and communication skills (oral and written).
• Analytical skills with a statistical background.
• Experience in poultry husbandry and management.

Nice-to-haves

• BS degree in Animal Science or related discipline preferred.
