About the position

The Early Childhood Instructor at Livonia Early Childhood Center is responsible for implementing a developmental childcare program for toddlers, ensuring adherence to NAEYC guidelines. This role involves planning and executing classroom activities in a nurturing environment, leading a team of Child Development Assistants, and engaging with parents to foster their involvement in their children's education.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a variety of developmentally appropriate classroom activities in a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Develop and submit weekly lesson plans.
  • Act as a 'team leader' for the Child Development Assistants assigned to the room by planning and supervising assignments.
  • Develop an awareness of, and be able to follow and implement all Jackson Early Childhood Center and Livonia Public Schools policies and procedures required for licensing.
  • Greet and communicate with parents daily in a professional manner via the internet, written and oral mediums.
  • Encourage parent participation by planning and implementing appropriate activities for parents that will reinforce their roles as the best teacher for their children.
  • Attend monthly instructor meetings and professional development activities throughout the school year.
  • Flexibility with scheduling and work cooperatively with program staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field, OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a ZA Endorsement, OR
  • Associate's Degree in Child Development.
  • Experience with toddlers and/or preschool children in a childcare setting.

Benefits

  • Hourly salary ranging from $20.00 to $21.00 per hour.
  • 12-month position.
