About the position

The Chemical Engineer Intern position at CITGO Petroleum Corporation offers a unique opportunity for students enrolled in a Chemical Engineering Bachelor's Degree program to gain hands-on experience in a refinery setting. The intern will work under the guidance of senior engineers, engaging in various projects that enhance their understanding of refinery operations and safe work practices. This paid 12-week summer internship culminates in a presentation summarizing the intern's experiences and accomplishments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with or perform engineering duties including feasibility studies and economic analysis of projects.
• Engage in process design and equipment specification.
• Monitor and troubleshoot process unit performance.
• Study and develop short and long-term solutions to process unit problems.
• Implement ideas to improve the profitability of various process units.
• Consult with Senior Project Engineers and complete site visits in support of ongoing engineering efforts.
• Complete End of Internship Summary and presentation.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a Chemical Engineering Bachelor's Degree program.
• Must be at least a sophomore status in college with an overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Available to work forty hours (40) per week.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) eligibility.
