About the position

The LNG Technical Procedure Writer at KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) plays a crucial role in developing technical documentation for Commissioning, Start-up, and Operations (CSO) related to EPC projects. This position involves creating comprehensive manuals and procedures that encompass all aspects of commissioning, start-up, operations, and maintenance (CSOM). The writer will be responsible for ensuring that all documentation meets project schedule requirements and adheres to local, state, and federal regulatory training requirements, including OSHA regulations. The role requires a high level of discretion and confidentiality, as the writer will handle sensitive information and maintain complex records that necessitate careful selection and classification from various sources. In this position, the LNG Technical Procedure Writer will provide administrative support to project personnel, utilizing technical writing and editing skills to produce clear and concise documentation. The writer will proactively gather data from engineering teams, suppliers, and industry sources to inform the CSO documents. Additionally, the writer will be responsible for creating and maintaining schedules for training development and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role demands a wide degree of creativity and autonomy, allowing the writer to apply their expertise in a specialized function to complete tasks effectively. The LNG Technical Procedure Writer will work primarily from the KBR Tower in downtown Houston, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that all documentation is accurate, timely, and meets the high standards expected in the industry. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in commissioning and startup EPC projects, who possess excellent communication skills and a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the CSO project personnel including technical writing and editing skills.
  • Perform general clerical, administrative, and project-based work under limited supervision.
  • Collect data from engineering, suppliers, and relevant industry sources as input to CSO documents.
  • Create, maintain, and communicate schedules for training development, delivery, and completion to EPC project management and Owner designated representatives.
  • Develop, update, and maintain CSO documentation required for an EPC project.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory training requirements, including OSHA 1910.119 (PSM), EPC, DOT, and Homeland Security regulations.

Requirements

  • Background in Commissioning and Startup EPC project experience, from pre-commissioning through initial start-up.
  • Superior command of the English language including rules and usage.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Superb interpersonal communication skills, particularly for conveying technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to perform numerical, statistical, and/or financial analysis.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external clients.

Nice-to-haves

  • 18+ years of relevant field experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, process, or related field with 10+ years of relevant field experience.
