About the position

Penske Logistics is seeking a Load Planner to join their team, responsible for coordinating load planning and freight movement processes. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual with strong analytical and computer skills, who thrives in a customer-centric environment. The Load Planner will manage customer orders, optimize shipments, and ensure timely delivery while maintaining effective communication with customers and associates.

Responsibilities

• Process customer orders and optimize shipments into loads.
• Tender freight to third-party carriers.
• Update the Transportation Management System with current shipment information.
• Provide detailed instructions to customers and associates via phone and email.
• Track shipments and provide visibility to management and customers.
• Complete daily logs and trackers.
• Handle rate negotiations with carriers on a spot rate basis.
• Identify cost savings opportunities for customers.
• Coordinate with carriers to ensure on-time delivery by tracking trucks and estimating arrival times.
• Investigate load exceptions and report findings.
• Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
• Two (2) plus years of experience in Transportation/Supply Chain preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time-sensitive situations in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Advanced desktop computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook required.
• Strong customer focus and ability to develop professional relationships.
• Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Strong organizational skills and communication skills.

• Experience with various computer systems across different platforms.
• Flexibility with scheduling to work First, Second, and Third Shifts as needed.
