About the position

The Load Rating Engineer will join the New York City team at H&H, a full-service infrastructure engineering firm with over 137 years of experience. This role focuses on providing load ratings for bridge inspections, working collaboratively with a team to support various clients in the Structural/Transportation sectors. The engineer will be responsible for performing load rating calculations, managing reports, and mentoring junior staff, contributing to the firm's reputation for innovative engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Perform Level 1 and Level 2 load rating calculations in support of bridge inspection findings.
• Work closely with a team to manage load rating reports.
• Conduct occasional field site visits.
• Provide mentoring and training to junior staff.

Requirements

• BS in Civil Engineering
• PE License required (in NY)
• Five+ years of Structural Engineering experience with a focus on bridge design and inspection/load ratings (preferred)
• Completed a FHWA approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage small groups and projects
• Experience with AASHTOWare load rating software (preferred)
• Experience with 3D Finite Element Analysis software (such as CSiBridge, SAP2000)
• Experience with local client base preferable (NYSDOT)
• Detail and goal-oriented, a self-starter, and proficient in both verbal and written communications.
