About the position
The Loader position at O'Neal Steel involves loading and unloading materials within a warehouse environment during the 3rd shift (10pm-6am). The role requires the operation of various material handling equipment and adherence to safety procedures while ensuring high-quality work for internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload material within the warehouse using hand trucks, forklifts, overhead cranes, and other handling equipment.
- Safely load multi-stop loads for customer delivery while adhering to DOT weight regulations.
- Verify the accuracy of material, quantity, packaging, and special instructions for each order being shipped.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area, performing all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Utilize a variety of hand tools for loading duties, including grinders, banders, drills, and wrenches.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills for planning and problem-solving in loading operations.
- Learn and retain product knowledge and standard handling procedures across all products.
Requirements
- Ability to operate a wide variety of material handling equipment including forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Strong understanding of load balancing to meet DOT weight regulations.
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
- Experience using a variety of hand tools for loading duties.
- Commitment to providing high-quality work to all customers.
