About the position

The Loan Officer Assistant, also known as a Pre-Approval Specialist, plays a crucial role in supporting Loan Officers and their teams throughout the loan process. This position involves assisting with lead generation, borrower qualification, and maintaining communication with various stakeholders to ensure a smooth loan application process. The role requires a license within 90 days of employment, with training provided during work hours.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with lead generation and maintain a tracking database for the team.
  • Qualify borrowers and take applications.
  • Work with Processors to track down outstanding conditions and communicate updates.
  • Attend daily sales meetings and pipeline meetings.
  • Manage lead tracker and clear daily tasks in Salesforce CRM.
  • Provide assistance to Loan Officer and Processing team.
  • Support on loan qualification scenarios and interpreting guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of conventional and government loan programs and guidelines.
  • Make initial contact with borrowers and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Provide verbal updates on Tuesdays and email updates on Fridays to all parties involved.
  • Guide borrowers through the loan application process.
  • Update Encompass with validated information.
  • Request, review, and upload required upfront documents to mortgage software and CRM.
  • Make credit decisions and issue preapprovals once supporting documents are received.
  • Request initial rate locks and disclosures once licensed.
  • Follow up on upfront documents to ensure disclosures are acknowledged and signed.
  • Complete accurate and detailed file notes for the Processing team.
  • Attend all team meetings and trainings with up-to-date notes on all files in the pipeline.
  • Review, manage, and prioritize the pipeline based on closing date and lock expiration.

Requirements

  • Experience in office settings and customer service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with borrowers and agents.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM and Encompass software is a plus.
  • Willingness to obtain a loan officer license within 90 days.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
