About the position

At Northrim Bank, we are seeking a dedicated Loan Officer to manage a loan portfolio focused on commercial real estate loans. The primary objective of this role is to develop strong customer relationships while maintaining and improving the quality of our assets. The Loan Officer will actively engage with new and prospective bank loan clients, making referrals to other areas of the business as necessary. This position requires a proactive approach to business development, conducting loan interviews, performing cash flow and credit analysis, and preparing loan requests for approval. Additionally, the Loan Officer will monitor the performance of loans, assess borrowers' ability to repay, collect delinquencies, and restructure loans when required. The Loan Officer will also participate in Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) activities within the lending area, completing research, projects, reports, and other tasks to support the Lending Division. This role is essential in ensuring that our lending practices align with Northrim Bank's policies and regulatory guidelines. Responsibilities

  • Manage a loan portfolio focused on commercial real estate loans.
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships to improve asset quality.
  • Actively call on new and prospective bank loan clients.
  • Make referrals to other areas of the business as necessary.
  • Conduct business development activities to generate new loan relationships and deposit products.
  • Review loan requests and present recommendations for approval or denial in a timely manner.
  • Monitor booked loans to ensure compliance with loan agreements and bank policies.
  • Maintain low delinquency levels in the loan portfolio according to bank guidelines.
  • Complete relevant internal and external training opportunities as assigned.
  • Participate in committees, task forces, and special projects as assigned.
  • Represent Northrim Bank at community events, trade shows, and other functions as needed.
  • Engage in bank-wide activities, events, and meetings.
  • Complete compliance training within established timeframes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Three years of progressively responsible work experience in a financial institution, including one year of direct lending experience.
  • Sales/account management experience is required; small business lending experience is preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and business law.
  • Ability to prioritize work and be self-motivated with a high level of initiative and accountability.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and present it effectively.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in small business lending is preferred.
  • Related military education or experience may be considered as a substitute for education or work experience.
