About the position

The Loan Officer at 4U Credit Union is responsible for processing various loan applications, including consumer, auto, home improvement, and credit cards. This role involves meeting with applicants to explain credit policies, evaluating loan applications, and ensuring compliance with lending criteria. The Loan Officer also provides general information about Credit Union services and actively cross-sells products to members.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants and gather information for loan requests.
• Evaluate and verify loan applications and credit criteria.
• Compute debt ratios and verify employment and income.
• Determine the value of collateral and approve loans within authority limits.
• Coordinate and process loan closings, ensuring proper documentation and disbursement.
• Calculate terms, finance charges, and insurance for loan documents.
• Assist in servicing loans, including processing payoffs and refinances.
• Sell credit life, disability, GAP, and extended warranties.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations in lending operations.
• Prepare title work and file necessary documents with the state.
• Make collection calls and manage repossession logs as needed.
• Counsel members on money management and financial matters.
• Assist in training and cross-training loan support personnel.
• Complete reports and records accurately and promptly.

Requirements

• High school graduate with required loan training and certification.
• Knowledge of loan services, policies, and procedures.
• Understanding of legal and regulatory standards for loans.
• Knowledge of consumer and residential lending practices.
• Minimum one year of related experience in lending or financial institutions.
• Excellent interviewing, communication, and public relations skills.
• Strong analytical and financial skills.
• Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous lending experience or experience with a full-service financial institution.
