About the position

Legacy Mutual Mortgage is a full-service residential mortgage lender that has been in business since 2005, specializing in originating, underwriting, and closing a variety of mortgage loans including conventional, jumbo, FHA, VA, and USDA loans. We are dedicated to meeting the home loan needs of individual homebuyers while collaborating with our real estate partners in Texas. As a Loan Officer, you will be responsible for reaching out to prospective referral sources to solicit mortgage loans in line with company standards and production goals. You will assist potential borrowers in completing loan applications, providing necessary disclosures, collecting funds for services, and gathering essential support documents. Your role will also involve guiding customers in selecting loan programs that best suit their needs, disclosing loan terms, and locking in interest rates. In addition to these responsibilities, you will develop sales campaigns that align with company goals and coordinate marketing activities. Building new business and expanding existing relationships will be key components of your role. You will maintain a thorough understanding of commercial loan products and services, as well as the industries or market areas served. Communication with realtors and borrowers will be crucial, as you will provide updates on loan statuses and any significant changes to loan terms or closing dates. You will also coordinate loan processing efforts, ensuring that loans close and fund on the specified dates. Managing relationships within your loan portfolio, including follow-ups and handling delinquent loans, will be part of your duties. Regular attendance is essential in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit mortgage loans from prospective referral sources in accordance with company standards and loan production goals.
  • Assist prospective borrowers in completing loan applications and provide required disclosures.
  • Collect funds for services to be ordered and gather necessary support documents from borrowers.
  • Provide customer assistance in selecting loan programs that best fit their needs and disclose loan terms.
  • Lock in loan interest rates for borrowers.
  • Develop sales campaigns aligned with company goals and coordinate marketing activities.
  • Expand existing relationships and develop new business opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of commercial loan products and services, as well as the industries served.
  • Coordinate with realtors and borrowers to provide loan status updates and significant changes to loan terms or closing dates.
  • Communicate loan status between borrowers and processors to ensure smooth processing efforts.
  • Encourage inter-departmental referrals by providing training and product support for front-line personnel.
  • Monitor the loan process to ensure loans close and fund on the specified date.
  • Manage relationships within the loan portfolio, including follow-ups and handling delinquent loans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a mortgage loan officer or comparable experience originating loans.
  • Eligibility for NMLS registration and licensing.
  • Analytical ability to evaluate credit applications and make fair and impartial decisions.
  • Working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to mortgage lending.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and data processing software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform in a high-volume environment with a positive attitude.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
