The Loan Officer position at Vaco in Chillicothe, OH, is a senior-level role that requires a high degree of professionalism and respect in all job duties. The individual in this position will assist and support Financial Services Representatives (FSR) staff and may serve as a backup to the existing Branch Manager for financial and member services matters. This role is expected to operate in a lead capacity, necessitating a solid understanding of HCU principles, support, and analytical skills. The Loan Officer will be responsible for completing data forms and entering indicative information into the computer system for opening member accounts and processing loan requests. The Loan Officer will interact with members both in person and over the phone, handling loan applications, account balances, transfers, and consultations as needed. This includes changing, adding, and deleting names on accounts and completing all applicable forms. The position requires presenting loan applications for approval through the lending matrix system or making credit decisions within the existing loan policy manual. Upon approval, the Loan Officer will issue loans and complete necessary documentation. Additionally, this role requires a comprehensive understanding of teller and front office cash services. The Loan Officer may serve in the Head Teller capacity, maintaining accurate vault cash and traveler check inventory records, and must be familiar with Teller Operations Policy Statement and Cash and Currency Operations Policy Statement. Responsibilities also include processing check decisions, approving or denying checks for teller operations, and performing maintenance on VISA and ATM accounts. The Loan Officer will assist in issuing TDI forms, taking stop payment orders, and wire transfers, as well as controlling entry to safety deposit boxes and managing direct deposit and ACH entries. The Loan Officer must communicate effectively and professionally to resolve member problems and complaints. In collaboration with the branch manager, this position may assist in evaluating employee performance, recommending promotions, reassignments, and other personnel functions, while also providing training and assistance to employees in a supervisory role. The Loan Officer is expected to ensure that the branch maintains a favorable image, reflecting a secure financial institution that prioritizes safety, confidentiality, and member satisfaction. This position may require travel to other branch offices as needed, and the Loan Officer will perform other duties as assigned by the direct manager or senior staff based on business needs.
