About the position

This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Economic Development Authority. The Loan Operations Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating various projects related to our Innovation programming. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with lending and loan processing skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. The coordinator will work closely with management to ensure compliance with contract specifications for Innovation Team Programs and Projects, prepare necessary loan/grant documents to facilitate project execution, and monitor project progress against pre-set contracted milestones. Additionally, the coordinator will verify that all conditions for disbursement have been met before authorizing fund release, review and follow-up on annual status reports submitted by assigned projects, and prepare amendments to loan/grant agreements under management oversight. The ideal candidate will assist in reviewing grant and loan applications, contribute to the development of program materials and applications, and manage loan/application routing for Business Finance & Compliance programs. They will also participate in meetings with program managers and external stakeholders, support site visits to awarded grant and loan projects, and produce content for information requests. The coordinator will monitor compliance with Targeted Small Business (TSB) criteria, interpret regulations to ensure compliance with applicable laws, and connect with applicants to request documentation and follow-up information. This role is essential in maintaining a positive working relationship with external stakeholders and ensuring that all program rules and regulations are communicated effectively to recipients.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with management to ensure compliance with contract specifications for Innovation Team Programs and Projects.
  • Prepare necessary loan/grant documents to facilitate project execution.
  • Monitor project progress against pre-set contracted milestones.
  • Verify that all conditions for disbursement have been met before authorizing fund release.
  • Review and follow-up on annual status reports submitted by assigned projects.
  • Prepare amendments to loan/grant agreements under management oversight.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with external stakeholders.
  • Communicate program rules and regulations to recipients via email, phone, and in-person.
  • Organize and route financial claims into the grants management program and Workday.
  • Coordinate electronic routing of loan/grant agreement approvals and amendments.
  • Assist in reviewing grant and loan applications.
  • Contribute to the development of program materials and applications.
  • Manage loan/application routing for Business Finance & Compliance programs.
  • Participate in meetings with program managers and external stakeholders.
  • Support site visits to awarded grant and loan projects.
  • Produce content for information requests.
  • Monitor compliance with Targeted Small Business (TSB) criteria.
  • Interpret regulations to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Review applications containing confidential information.
  • Connect with applicants to request documentation and follow-up information.
  • Respond to inquiries about Innovation Programs.
  • Coordinate completed applications for internal review.
  • Maintain the IDEA supplier/vendor system, including additions, deletions, and renewals.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major coursework in research, planning, economics, public relations, business, corporate finance, journalism or marketing.
  • Experience equal to one year of full-time work that involved responsibility for interpreting laws, rules and regulations, and/or securing compliance with them; or compiling and evaluating statistical, historical, economic, business, financial, or technical related program data.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of the above specified experience for each year (thirty semester or equivalent hours) of the required education.
