About the position

The Loan Operations Specialist III plays a crucial role in the Loan Department, working closely with the Loan Operations Manager to ensure an accurate and efficient loan servicing environment. This position is responsible for independently completing assigned tasks within established deadlines while protecting the assets of the bank and the interests of shareholders. The specialist will thoroughly review commercial, consumer, and mortgage loan files for accuracy and completeness, ensuring that all documentation meets regulatory requirements. Excellent customer service is a key component of this role, as the specialist will interact with both external and internal customers, consistently maintaining a positive demeanor and demonstrating courtesy, tact, and discretion in all communications. In addition to loan file reviews, the Loan Operations Specialist III will assist in the training and development of team members, fostering a collaborative environment. The specialist will act as a liaison to the Compliance Department for audit and compliance issues, ensuring that all loan operations adhere to regulatory standards. Responsibilities also include verifying loans boarded to the core system, processing bought and sold participation payments and advances, and maintaining a working knowledge of government regulatory requirements affecting loan documentation. The role requires the ability to prioritize multiple demands in a high-pressure environment while maintaining professionalism. The specialist will assist lenders, loan assistants, and processors with questions related to their portfolio documentation and provide required reports needed by various bank personnel. Continuous education and training on compliance policies and procedures are essential to stay updated with industry standards and practices. Overall, the Loan Operations Specialist III is integral to the success of the Loan Department, contributing to the bank's operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Loan Operations Manager with the training and development of the team.
  • Foster a collaborative teamwork environment.
  • Act as liaison to the Compliance Department for audit and compliance issues.
  • Assist and provide back-up support for all tasks performed by the team.
  • Verify loans boarded to core system.
  • Process bought and sold participation payments and advances.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of government regulatory requirements affecting loan documentation.
  • Assist in timely preparation of SBA, Federal Reserve, eOSCAR and other various reports.
  • Process non-accrual, charge-off, and OREO status loans.
  • Assist lenders, loan assistants, and processors with questions related to their portfolio documentation.
  • Provide required reports needed by officers, processors, compliance, and other bank personnel.
  • Complete training as required on BSA and other Compliance policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of banking experience required, preferably in Loan Operations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Experience with Jack Henry core system is a plus.
  • Supervisory or Team Lead experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple demands in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • An associate degree in business, accounting or related field is helpful, but not required.
  • Experience in a customer service role within the banking industry.
