The Loan Operations Specialist position at Brentwood Bank is a critical role that involves managing various functions related to the bank's loan portfolio, which includes Commercial, Residential, Construction, Home Equity, and Consumer loans. The specialist is responsible for accurately booking new loans into the bank's core processing system, processing payments, balancing loan accounts, and ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations. This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to solve complex problems, as well as a commitment to driving results and improving processes. In this position, the specialist will review and interpret legal documents such as loan agreements, guarantees, and promissory notes to ensure timely and accurate data entry. They will also utilize their knowledge of bankruptcy and loan performance to process renewals and modifications. The role demands familiarity with both standard and complex loan documentation, particularly in relation to Residential and Commercial Real Estate, as well as Commercial C&I. Knowledge of compliance regulations, including TRID, RESPA, HMDA, FDPA, FCRA, and CFPB guidelines, is essential for success in this role. The Loan Operations Specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of loan payments, ensuring that all requisite documentation is retained in the bank's digital storage system, and filing necessary liens with relevant authorities. They will also manage escrow accounts for real estate-related loans, process customer information changes, and respond to inquiries regarding payoffs and balances. Collaboration with internal and external partners is key, as is representing the bank positively in community activities. This position is designed for individuals who are self-directed, able to work autonomously, and possess strong analytical skills. The ability to adapt to changing workflows and prioritize tasks effectively is crucial. The role may require local travel between branches or offsite training, and candidates should be prepared for a flexible work environment that includes both remote and office work.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurately book new loan data onto the Bank's core processing system.
  • Utilize knowledge of bankruptcy and loan performance to process renewals and modifications.
  • Review booked loans for accuracy within established SLA's.
  • Maintain familiarity with standard and complex loan documentation for Residential and Commercial Real Estate.
  • Ensure compliance with Residential Real Estate Mortgage regulations including TRID, RESPA, HMDA, FDPA, FCRA, and CFPB guidelines.
  • Post current, delinquent, exception, and payoff loan payments in accordance with Bank procedures.
  • Retain all requisite loan documentation in the bank's digital document storage system.
  • Review collateral documentation and file appropriate liens with county, DMV, UCC.
  • Track, disburse, and administer tax, homeowners' insurance, and flood insurance escrow on real estate loans.
  • Process customer information changes, file maintenance, and correspondence efficiently.
  • Respond to requests for payoffs, balances, transaction inquiries, and complaint resolution.
  • Review maturing and closed loans for correct amortization and collection of remaining fees and charges.
  • File necessary satisfactions and releases.
  • Collaborate with internal and external service partners in accordance with the Bank's core values.
  • Promote a favorable image of the Bank through community involvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years banking experience, preferably in residential and commercial loans.
  • Fluency in advanced Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to organize and adapt workflows and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to research and resolve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated superior customer service skills.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with UCC law is preferred.
