About the position

The Loan Processor/Loan Officer Assistant plays a crucial role in the mortgage lending process, ensuring efficient processing of loan applications from submission to approval. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills, who will work closely with borrowers, lenders, and underwriters to manage documentation and compliance with regulatory standards. The role offers a hybrid work environment and is ideal for candidates with experience in wholesale lending and a deep understanding of various loan products.

Responsibilities

  • Process residential mortgage loan applications for Conventional, FHA, VA, and Non-QM products, ensuring compliance with all underwriting guidelines.
  • Review and verify loan documents, including credit reports, income statements, tax returns, and other required financial documents.
  • Communicate with borrowers to gather missing documentation, clarify loan details, and keep them updated on the progress of their loan applications.
  • Work closely with wholesale lenders to facilitate loan submissions and ensure timely approval.
  • Coordinate with underwriting, closing, and compliance departments to ensure smooth loan processing and timely closings.
  • Ensure loan files are complete, accurate, and compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain detailed records of loan progress, including all communications and actions taken.
  • Review and verify loan files for accuracy and completeness before submitting to underwriting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or delays in the loan process.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to borrowers, real estate agents, and other key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • NMLS Licensed (Active and in good standing).
  • Experience with Wholesale Lenders and the loan submission process.
  • Deep understanding of underwriting guidelines for Conventional, FHA, VA, and Non-QM loan products.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in processing loan applications and verifying documentation.
  • Strong recall and memory for loan guidelines, borrower-specific information, and prior loan files.
  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve complex issues throughout the loan processing cycle.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with borrowers, lenders, underwriters, and other team members.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to explain complex information clearly and professionally.
  • Self-Starter: Proactively manages tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Spanish-speaking is a plus but not required.
  • Local to South Florida is a plus, but not required.
