About the position

As a Loan Review Officer II at Associated Bank, you will play a crucial role in conducting loan review analysis across various segments of the bank's portfolio, including Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Commercial and Industrial (C&I), Specialized, and Retail loans. Under the direct supervision of Senior Loan Review officers, you will evaluate compliance with regulatory guidelines and bank policies, ensuring that all loans meet the necessary standards. Your responsibilities will include assessing the condition and quality of individual credits through detailed financial, collateral, and documentation analysis. You will quantify key metrics such as debt service capacity, leverage, liquidity, collateral coverage, and guarantor support, which are essential for determining the appropriate risk rating for borrowers in accordance with the current Lending Policy and regulatory guidance. In this position, you will also be expected to promptly identify and report any issues to senior Loan Review Officers, ensuring that potential risks are addressed in a timely manner. You will participate in special projects and targeted risk assessments as directed by department management, which will provide you with opportunities to engage with various stakeholders within the bank. Interaction with lending officers, credit administration, loan servicing, and other employees will be a key part of your role, as you perform risk assessment due diligence and develop functional partnerships to facilitate effective loan grading communications. Your educational background should include a Bachelor's Degree in Business with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting, while a Master's Degree is preferred. You will need to have 5-7 years of experience in Loan Review, Commercial Lending, Credit Administration, or Regulatory Examination, with a preference for candidates who have 7-10 years of experience. Additionally, obtaining certifications such as the BAI Loan Review Certificate, RMA Credit Risk Certification, CPA, or CFA within specified timeframes will be required or preferred. Responsibilities

  • Conduct loan review analysis of loans in the bank's various portfolios.
  • Evaluate compliance with regulatory guidelines and bank policies.
  • Assess the condition and quality of individual credits based on financial, collateral, and documentation analysis.
  • Determine the appropriate risk rating on accounts according to current Lending Policy.
  • Participate in special projects and targeted risk assessments as directed by department management.
  • Interact with lending officers, credit administration, loan servicing, and other bank employees in the process of performing risk assessment due diligence.
  • Participate in discussions with affiliate management regarding loan grading and conclusions regarding credit underwriting, approval, and administration.
  • Develop and maintain functional partnerships with colleagues in the line of business to ensure effective loan grading communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting (Required)
  • Master's Degree (Preferred)
  • 5-7 years of experience in Loan Review, Commercial Lending, Credit Administration, or Regulatory Examination (Required)
  • 7-10 years of experience in Loan Review, Commercial Lending, Credit Administration, or Regulatory Examination (Preferred)
  • BAI Loan Review Certificate within 2 years (Required)
  • RMA Credit Risk Certification (Preferred)
  • RMA Credit Risk Certified within 3-5 years (Preferred)
  • CPA - Certified Public Accountant within 3-5 years (Preferred)
  • CFA - Chartered Financial Analyst within 3-5 years (Preferred)
