About the position

The Local Account Manager at Expeditors is responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing relationships with key global customers to ensure business retention and growth. This role involves understanding customer needs, delivering tailored business reviews, and collaborating with various departments to create value-added solutions. The position aims to enhance customer satisfaction while driving revenue and profitability for the company.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen relationships with existing house accounts.
  • Identify opportunities and grow business from existing house accounts.
  • Penetrate organizational structure for house accounts and develop relationships at all levels beyond main point of contact.
  • Understand customers' business and strategy and our role with the customer.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and follow up.
  • Communicate service issues to Department Managers/Supervisors.
  • Maintain and update action items lists weekly for follow-up items.
  • Assist with collections when needed.
  • Manage client profiles separated out by location.
  • Input and manage CRM for significant calls.
  • Be fluent in EI systems and demos to provide technical updates to LAM accounts.
  • Involve sales and operations at appropriate times.
  • Share weekly schedule with all Departments to help coordinate and participate in joint account visits.
  • Turn major business opportunities and proposals over to Sales and operational issues to appropriate operational contacts.
  • Manage Business Reviews with a goal of one per account per year.
  • Seek continual improvement in procedures and services for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assume lead responsibility for the efficient delivery of all local (branch) services.
  • Assist and spearhead problem resolution for issues outside of local branch.
  • Ensure a functioning and agreed-upon invoicing and payment process is in place.
  • Meet with local customers to maintain customer information and satisfaction.
  • Dedicate to the success of Expeditors and the program using ethical business practices and personal commitment.

Requirements

  • University or equivalent business qualifications.
  • Minimum 3 years of Expeditors or industry experience.
  • Proven work experience in business development.
  • Knowledge of Expeditors products and services.
  • Knowledge of required Expeditors operating systems and skills associated with Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in MS Office and CRM software.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to perform and meet KPI requirements.
  • Demonstrated customer service, problem solving, and proven interpersonal skills.
  • Charismatic with an ability to connect.
  • Ability to create/write customer requirements clearly for use by other Expeditors employees.
  • Level one Account Management certification.
  • Level one Sales certification.
