About the position

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is seeking temporary local hires to support disaster response and recovery efforts in Columbia, South Carolina. Local hires will assist in various emergency management functions, including disaster survivor assistance and damage assessments, for a term of 120 days, with potential extensions based on disaster needs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a staff advisor to the Federal Disaster Recovery Coordinator (FDRC) and Federal Disaster Recovery Officer (FDRO) on recovery geospatial and data issues.
  • Implement the National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF).
  • Coordinate requests with the Recovery Analytics Division for disasters.
  • Identify critical issues, develop trends, and evaluate the progress of disaster recovery operations and projects.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • High school graduate or possess a GED.
  • Minimum age of eighteen years.
  • Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify and implement effective solutions to the recovery mission.
  • Experience producing maps and data products using ESRI products, Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, Python, R, SQL, or other programming languages.
  • Experience facilitating data coordination and collaboration for disaster recovery among various stakeholders.
