The Kalibrate team operates globally, supporting over 300 customers across more than 70 countries. In this role as a Location Research Analyst (GIS), you will be an integral part of the Location Intelligence Team, focusing on analyzing and delivering reports and presentations to our clients. Your responsibilities will include conducting first-party research, which may require travel to various markets, or utilizing available Kalibrate resources and data. This position is typically suited for individuals with three or fewer years of experience. You will be tasked with building sales forecasts and conducting cannibalization analyses, as well as assisting with special projects. Your work will involve using both proprietary and publicly available software and data, including QGIS, census data, Microsoft Office, and Chain X/Y. You will also develop a solid understanding of retail geography principles, spatial data concepts, and data collection standards. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking on new challenges and possess a strong desire to continuously improve processes. You will need to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhere to project timelines without direct supervision, and accept guidance from various team members.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and deliver reports and presentations to Kalibrate clients.
  • Conduct first-party research in market or using available Kalibrate resources or data.
  • Build sales forecasts and cannibalization analyses.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Utilize proprietary software and publicly available data for analysis.
  • Develop knowledge of retail geography principles and spatial data concepts.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and meet project deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, planning, or business.
  • 3 or fewer years of experience in a related role.
  • Strong research skills to deliver data insights and recommendations.
  • Problem-solving skills with a process-oriented approach to determine irregularities in analysis results.
  • Excellent communication skills for verbal and written commentary, including the ability to present findings to clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including experience with look-up functions, pivot tables, and advanced filtering.
  • GIS skills, including experience with Esri, MapInfo, or QGIS.
  • Understanding of statistical concepts such as correlation, variance, significance, and predictive model fitting.
  • Personal management skills to advocate for projects and manage multiple deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with the Alteryx application.
  • Understanding of the retail, restaurant, or fuel sector.
  • Experience in customer/client interactions, including order taking and interviewing.
  • Experience in writing reports.
