Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, modification, and repairs of locking mechanisms throughout FIU campuses.
• Install various access control devices and program IP Access Control Panels.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose system failures or malfunctions.
• Conduct on-site repairs of broken locks, doors, and related hardware.
• Replace worn-out or broken parts of locks and complete inspections of attached hardware.
• Perform emergency maintenance as required.
• Install access control devices such as card readers, motion sensors, and electric door strikes with or without supervision.
• Maintain mechanical locks and master keying schemes.
• Cut keys using a key cutting machine from original or manufacturer codes.
• Diagnose problems with malfunctioning locks and determine necessary parts for repairs.
• Assist in obtaining data for coordination of new keying systems for new constructions or renovations.
• Perform general emergency maintenance duties as required by Facilities Management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of experience including specialized training in electronic lock integration.
• Certified Locksmith License.
