As a Locksmith II, you will provide locksmith services to the organization by installing, repairing, inspecting, and recombining mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic locking and monitoring devices, as well as door hardware. Your role will involve making new keys from duplications, impressions, and key codes from a variety of key blanks. You will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and/or rekeying doors, cabinets, padlocks, electric panel locks, cylindrical locks, and mechanical and electro-technical combination locks. Additionally, you will maintain records and files, plan code set-ups, and cut keys for Master and Grandmaster key locking systems for individual locks and total buildings. You will communicate directly with customers to resolve issues in a timely and appropriate manner, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. Your responsibilities will also include opening safes with unknown combinations, unlocking doors and equipment due to lockouts, and maintaining an inventory of key blanks, panic bar systems, cores, and other related materials. Preventive maintenance and changing combinations on safes, vault doors, safe deposit boxes, and similar containers will also be part of your duties. You will maintain the security and confidentiality of the Lockshop area and equipment, provide locking security and safety information, and technical advice to staff, as well as train them on the proper use of equipment. Interpreting building blueprints and performing other related duties as required will also be expected.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience as a journeyman locksmith, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training (including internal training).
  • Valid Georgia driver's license and insurable driving record may be required.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, twist, and walk for a distance of up to one mile within a shift may be required.
  • Must be able to pass the Emory police background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as an Associated Locksmiths of America (ALOLA) are a plus.
