Plano ISD is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Locksmith II. This role is essential for the maintenance and repair of locking devices and building locking systems components across the district. The Locksmith II will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the installation, replacement, inspection, testing, cleaning, preventive maintenance, and repair of both new and existing locking equipment. The position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work independently while also collaborating with other staff members to ensure the security and functionality of all locking systems within the district's facilities. The primary duties of the Locksmith II include maintaining specific keyed locking systems installed at various buildings, including exterior and interior doors, as well as special needs security doors. The locksmith will coordinate hardware standards with the New Construction Department and analyze job assignments to determine if additional materials are required. Keeping accurate records of labor and materials for each job assignment is crucial, and these records must be reported to the Supervisor. The locksmith will also be responsible for repairing all locks and locking devices throughout the district, installing new locks, rekeying existing locks, and making necessary repairs or adjustments to door closures. In addition to technical skills, the Locksmith II must possess strong communication abilities to effectively interact with building principals and managers, ensuring that each building maintains a master key system. The role may also involve responding to emergencies as they arise, working closely with the Manager and Supervisor to address urgent needs. The Locksmith II will utilize various tools and equipment, including carpentry hand tools, power tools, and a stamp key machine, while operating a Plano ISD vehicle as needed.
