About the position

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority is seeking a skilled Locksmith III to join our team in Orlando, Florida. This position is essential for ensuring the security and functionality of door locking devices and hardware throughout the airport facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining various locking systems, as well as preparing keys for different applications. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and a thorough understanding of the specific lock systems utilized in an airport environment, including Large Format Interchangeable Cores and Simplex Mechanical Pushbutton Locks. As a Locksmith III, you will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and engineering cut sheets. Knowledge of TSA and airport security regulations is crucial, as you will be working in secured and restricted areas. The ability to operate field communications equipment and program electronic locking devices is also a key requirement for this position. You will be part of a dedicated team that prioritizes safety and security, ensuring that all locking mechanisms are functioning correctly and efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain door locking devices and hardware.
  • Prepare keys for various applications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and engineering cut sheets.
  • Program electronic locking devices as required.
  • Operate field communications equipment effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with TSA and airport security regulations.
  • Maintain a high standard of performance and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalency diploma.
  • Five (5) years of experience working as a locksmith in building maintenance or construction fields.
  • Completion of locksmith courses, including lock systems in use at the airport.
  • One (1) year experience as a GOAA Locksmith II in the Lock Shop with a good performance evaluation.
  • Documented experience in a commercial/industrial environment as a locksmith.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering cut sheets.
  • Knowledge of TSA and Airport security regulations.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Large Format Interchangeable Cores and Simplex Mechanical Pushbutton Locks.
