About the position

The SHOW comes alive at MGM Resorts International. As a Locksmith, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and functionality of our property by providing various locksmith services. Your responsibilities will include the repair, rebuilding, replacement, and installation of all locks and mechanical parts throughout both the interior and exterior of the property. This position requires a strong commitment to excellent guest service, as you will be interacting with guests and ensuring their needs are met while maintaining the highest standards of security and safety. In your day-to-day activities, you will install, repair, rebuild, and service mechanical or electrical locking devices using hand tools and specialized equipment. You will determine the proper methods for key cutting and duplication, ensuring that all keys are stamped with the correct codes. Additionally, you will issue keys for various areas of the property, maintain records of key assignments, and manage lock combinations. Your role will also involve setting up and maintaining a master key system, utilizing computer programs for keying and specification writing, and inspecting key and locking systems for compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about federally listed lubricants and proficient in using key cutting equipment, hand drills, buffers, grinders, and other locksmith tools. You will need to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with guests and business contacts. This position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the repair, installation, and maintenance of locking devices, along with appropriate legal requirements such as licensing. Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, rebuild, and service mechanical or electrical locking devices using hand tools and special equipment.
  • Determine proper method to be used in key cutting and duplication, and properly stamp codes on key with index.
  • Issue keys required for the interior and exterior of buildings, keys associated with equipment, cabinets/furniture and other key related items.
  • Maintain records of key assignments and locks for buildings, change lock combinations, maintain record of locks and combinations, and function on emergency response.
  • Set-up and maintain a master key system.
  • Utilize computer programs for keying and specification writing.
  • Maintain a variety of locks and locking devices; order key blanks, lock parts, lock sets, latches, and other material required to maintain a working inventory.
  • Inspect key and locking systems for buildings, change combinations on safes and vaults, and perform emergency keying and opening services on locks and safes.
  • Maintain compliance with current federal, state and local safety and security regulations, including adhering to federally listed lubricants such as graphite, oils, and grease.
  • Promote and maintain the highest level of customer service to all guests while staying alert to their needs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of prior relevant experience in repair, installation, and maintenance of locking devices.
  • Possess appropriate legal requirements, such as a license.
  • At least 21 years old/certification/registration.
  • Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledgeable of and able to use federally listed lubricants such as graphite, oil, grease, etc.
  • Knowledgeable of and able to use key cutting equipment, hand drills, buffers and grinders, key gauges and other tools of the locksmith trade.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms.
