About the position

The Locksmith position at UMKC involves skilled work in the installation, maintenance, service, and repair of various locking mechanisms and related equipment. Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, reset, adjust and/or replace all types of locking mechanisms and/or door closers.
• Make keys from duplicate pattern keys on manually and automatically operated key cutting machines.
• Issue and receive keys, maintaining necessary access rosters and records.
• Open locks for which no key is available using prescribed lock-picking procedures.
• Prepare cost estimates, material orders, reports, and maintain records.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent; minimum of 4 years of actual experience in the locksmith trade, including apprentice or vocational training.
• Knowledge and skill in the maintenance and use of tools, equipment, and materials of the trade.
• Manual dexterity and physical coordination.
• Valid driver's license required.
