About the position

The Locksmith position, under general supervision, involves performing master/journey level work in the installation, repair, remodel, and maintenance of manual and automated locks, locking systems, and security devices. This includes working with computerized access control systems, door openers, closers, and hardware. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of various locking mechanisms and security systems to ensure the safety and security of city facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience with Keystone Web and Best Access Systems, although this is preferred rather than required. In this role, the locksmith will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial lockable hardware, which includes doors, automatic electric doors, windows, lockers, and magnetic keying systems. The locksmith will also be tasked with making new keys, replacing lost or broken keys, and designing and maintaining master key systems, including access control systems. The position requires the ability to respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service, with availability for emergencies 24/7. The locksmith will utilize keystone key and core control software to design and maintain a small format master key system with multiple keyways. Additionally, the locksmith will perform key audits to maintain key control and ensure the integrity of the locking systems in place. The work environment is primarily in a construction/maintenance setting, requiring the ability to endure prolonged exposure to arid desert conditions and perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and operating various tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, repairs, and maintains commercial lockable hardware, including doors, automatic electric doors, windows, lockers, and magnetic keying systems.
  • Makes new keys and replaces lost or broken keys.
  • Designs and maintains master key systems, including access control systems.
  • Cleans, maintains, adjusts, calibrates, and services equipment used in the performance of duties.
  • Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service, available 24/7 for emergencies.
  • Utilizes keystone key and core control software for designing and maintaining a small format master key system with multiple keyways.
  • Performs key audits to maintain key control.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Five years of experience in installation and maintenance of security systems and equipment is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date.
  • Preferred: Arizona registered and certified locksmith.
