About the position

Aya Locums is seeking a locum Hospitalist Physician for an immediate opening in Houston, TX. This full-time position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $180 to $200. The role involves overseeing the care of hospitalized patients, ensuring continuity of care, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to manage complex cases. The position is set to start on November 1, 2024, and will last for 13 weeks, with a standard shift schedule of 5 days a week, 12-hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:00.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the care of hospitalized patients, from admission through diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning.
  • Ensure continuity of care by collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
  • Coordinate with specialists to manage complex cases and provide comprehensive care.
  • Thoroughly document patient care in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Conduct daily rounds to assess patient progress, update treatment plans, and address new concerns.
  • Perform procedures such as intubations and central lines at facilities without a designated critical care physician on site.
  • Communicate with patients and families to explain diagnoses and treatment plans, and to answer questions.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide immediate medical intervention.
  • Collaborate with case managers and social workers to develop safe and effective discharge plans.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Residency training in internal medicine or family medicine accredited by ACGME or AOA.
  • Board certification in internal medicine or family medicine by ABIM or AOBIM.
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in Texas.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • At least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
