About the position

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Log Yard/Chipper Clean Up worker for their Columbia Falls Medium Density Fiberboard facility. This entry-level position focuses on maintaining a clean and safe work environment in the log yard and chipper area, ensuring efficient production flow and supporting team operations. The role offers on-the-job training and opportunities for career growth within a stable manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Keep all areas of the log yard chipper area clean and free of hazards.
• Blow down machinery and workstations, empty dumpsters, and pick up debris on catwalks and walking areas.
• Operate a forklift, front end loader, bobcat or various other types of equipment for cleanup purposes as necessary.
• Relieve and fill in for employees on breaks, temporary absences, vacation or sick leave at the debarker/chipper.
• Maintain production flow of log through the chipper by responding to jam ups.
• Identify potential problems by monitoring equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in production strongly preferred.
• Experience in the MDF and/or Wood Products industry preferred.
• Self-starter with the ability to work without direct supervision.
• Ability to work closely with supervisors and all others in the department; be a team player/leader; good verbal and written communication skills; and demonstrate a positive attitude.
• Knowledge of lockout procedures.
• Demonstrate good performance, safety and attendance records.
• Willingness to work any shift, work overtime and weekends and rotate between jobs; as well as perform any job as specified by supervisor.
• Ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions and have good hand-eye coordination.
