About the position

The Logistics Account Manager at U.S. Xpress Enterprises, Inc. is responsible for soliciting freight orders from a designated customer base and managing the order process through the company's New Order Management System. This role focuses on developing strong customer relationships, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, and proactively addressing service deviations. The position requires effective communication and problem-solving skills to handle customer inquiries and complaints, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit freight orders from assigned customers via phone, email, and electronic platforms.
  • Enter freight orders into the XPM New Order Management System for processing.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to maximize freight order volumes.
  • Monitor communication exchanges for receiving freight load orders and accept available loads.
  • Proactively communicate service deviations to customers and seek alternative solutions.
  • Record and remedy customer complaints to maximize satisfaction.
  • Keep customers informed of delivery statuses and update customer websites or EDI exchanges as needed.
  • Contact capacity buyers and fleets to seek alternate truck assignments to prevent service failures.
  • Enter pick-up and delivery information into the XPM Order Modification system as specified by customers.
  • Utilize booking tools to obtain data on booking averages and market trends.
  • Partner with the Freight Analyst team on securing ad hoc freight opportunities.
  • Mentor and assist in training Customer Experience Support staff.
  • Monitor trailer pools at customer facilities to ensure availability for loading.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of experience in transportation, administrative support, sales, or service preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to exchange information effectively.
  • High level of tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive issues.
  • Computer skills required, including experience with Microsoft Office and company-specific applications.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment with attention to detail and multitasking capabilities.

  • Experience in the transportation industry.
  • Familiarity with electronic data interchange (EDI) systems.
