About the position

The Logistics Analyst I position at Formosa Plastics Corporation involves maintaining the railcar fleet database and assisting in railcar lease negotiations. The role requires reviewing and processing freight invoices, railcar rental invoices, and railcar demurrage charges to ensure timely payments and maintain good credit for the company. The analyst will assist in maintaining railcar fleet files, ensuring data accuracy across all systems, and preparing railcar property tax filings for each state. Additionally, the position provides support to all aspects of the logistics department as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain railcar fleet database, update railcar service type, and ensure fleet data are aligned across all systems (ERP, Shipmentvision, and Umler).
  • Prepare railcar lease analysis and assist in railcar lease contract negotiation.
  • Assist Railcar property tax filing preparation, stay informed of tax policy updates, and ensure timely filing and payment of railcar property taxes.
  • Follow up with the plant railcar shop on the railcar maintenance schedule and monitor car counts sent to outside shops.
  • Review assigned abnormal freight invoices, rental invoices, demurrage charges, and ensure payments are made within the credit term.
  • Assist business unit and plant shipping regarding rail shipments, troubleshoot waybill issues, and minimize shipment delays.
  • Complete any other projects and tasks assigned by Logistics Managers and Director.

Requirements

  • Preferable with Transportation/Logistics/accounting related experience, including rail/truck operations and freight rate analysis.
  • Ability to sort data, analyze and manage analyses of numerous spreadsheets and scenarios.
  • Bachelor Degree, preferably in Business, Accounting, or Supply Chain.
  • Good analytical, verbal and written skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, particularly proficiency in Excel.
  • Must have regular, reliable attendance and the ability to work outside the regular schedule as required.
  • Ability to work independently.
