About the position

The Logistics and Facilities Manager at BioIVT will oversee the operations of the Detroit Logistics team and facility operations, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and regulatory guidelines. This role involves managing logistics functions within an ISO-certified CAP certified organization, focusing on inventory management, distribution, and warehousing while enhancing operational efficiencies and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operations of the Detroit Logistics team and facility operations.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to all logistics channels.
  • Interface directly with distributors and ensure compliance with customer requirements and regulatory guidelines.
  • Oversee inventory management, distribution, and warehousing.
  • Negotiate and audit shipping contracts for domestic and international logistics.
  • Facilitate operational compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain metrics, reports, and process documentation.
  • Identify areas for process improvements and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Manage and lead change to minimize disruption to core activities.
  • Facilitate monthly physical inventory counts and reporting.
  • Ensure lab and analytic equipment is serviced and functional according to policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Prior shipping and receiving experience required.
  • 2 years of previous supervisory experience or a minimum of 3 years working at BioIVT in a collaborative capacity.
  • Knowledge of shipping biological material internationally and within the US.
  • Knowledge of FAA and DOT regulations for shipping biological materials.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience with an ERP system is a plus.
  • Negotiation and vendor management experience required.
  • Familiarity with biotechnology, laboratory production, or biobanking is highly desirable.
  • Must be IATA certified to ship dangerous goods via aircraft or become certified within 3 months of employment.
