About the position
The Logistics and Transport Manager is responsible for overseeing the scheduling and management of transportation logistics, ensuring efficient operations and communication between drivers, transport crews, and customers. This role involves coordinating contracts for permit loads, managing international shipments, and monitoring vendor performance.
Responsibilities
- Scheduling truck transport
- Interacting with drivers, transport crews, and customer representatives
- Compiling master shipping list with dimensions, weight, etc.
- Managing and coordinating contracts for permit loads
- Preparing and issuing requests for quotes
- Evaluating bids
- Scheduling and coordinating loading
- Maintaining company shippers account with railroad
- Creating shipping cost estimates for large equipment
- Managing international shipments of inbound and outbound equipment
- Monitoring performance of transportation vendors
- Filing and following up on freight damage claims
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED required
- Five years of logistics/transport experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
