About the position

Tropical Shipping is seeking an Import Specialist to coordinate and process all necessary requirements for the importation of freight into the Port of Palm Beach, FL. This role involves providing exceptional customer service, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs requirements, and collaborating with various departments to improve import functions. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and send arrival notices to consignees and/or brokers, providing guidance on U.S. Customs requirements.
• Provide high-level service and customer care to inbound customer service calls.
• Quoting, vessel arrival information, cargo availability, clearance requirements, and records incidents.
• Ensure all U.S. Customs requirements are completed prior to cargo releases.
• Coordinate with various Tropical Shipping departments.
• Actively participate in the process improvement plan for import functions and department requirements.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years experience in traffic documentation, customer service, or export brokerage.
• Strong communication skills.
• Accountability and a solid work ethic.

Nice-to-haves

• Spanish language proficiency.
