About the position

The Logistics Coordinator at Bob's Metals, Inc. is responsible for managing and optimizing both international and domestic shipping operations. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient transportation of products while adhering to timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously, working closely with various logistics partners and internal departments.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of export planning, including booking, scheduling, documentation, customs compliance, and insurance requirements.
  • Prepare shipping documents such as sales orders, commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, ensuring accuracy and compliance with international trade regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate loading of export containers, including compliance with customer-specific load instructions.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders to arrange transportation of goods, negotiate rates, and ensure on-time shipment and delivery.
  • Monitor and track shipments, providing regular updates to internal stakeholders and customers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Work closely with customs brokers to ensure compliance with customs regulations, including the preparation and submission of required documentation and declarations.
  • Maintain and update shipping records, tracking systems, and databases to ensure accurate and accessible information.
  • Resolve any shipping-related issues, such as delays, damages, or discrepancies, by coordinating with relevant parties and implementing corrective actions.
  • Stay updated on international trade regulations, customs procedures, and shipping trends to ensure compliance and recommend process improvements.
  • Organize and manage domestic shipping operations, ensuring that products are delivered within the US in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Partner with domestic carriers and vendors to negotiate rates, schedules, and manage relationships.
  • Coordinate shipments between various distribution centers and customer locations, optimizing delivery routes and schedules.
  • Provide backup scale operations support and customer service phone support as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in logistics, with a focus on export and domestic shipping, preferably in an international business environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of computers and systems with the ability to learn new software platforms, specifically Recycling Operations Manager (ROM), CRO Dispatch, Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • In-depth knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and freight forwarding processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification or training in logistics, supply chain management, or related areas is a plus.
