About the position

As a Logistics Manager at Caterpillar, you will be responsible for optimizing logistics transportation and managing on-site material logistics functions. This role involves overseeing inventory levels, logistics process designs, and collaborating with various teams to improve material flow and reduce costs. You will also supervise staff, plan for future material handling needs, and ensure that customer requirements are met efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventory levels and daily operations in major tools and supplies disbursement and tool grinding cribs.
• Responsible for logistics process designs and working with logistics execution.
• Collaborate with Packaging and RCM teams on process improvements and cost reduction.
• Coordinate inbound material control, carrier collaboration, and establish milk runs.
• Manage third-party logistics services, plant site material logistics, and kitting processes.
• Optimize material flow throughout the plant site to ensure resource availability and eliminate traffic bottlenecks.
• Develop and implement cost-effective material handling plans, including logistics services and equipment.
• Supervise daily activities of staff, providing coaching, monitoring progress, and technical support.
• Plan for future material handling needs, equipment, and manpower requirements, and prepare operating budgets.
• Work closely with various departments to ensure customer needs are met using least total cost alternatives.
• Implement cost-effective projects while providing uninterrupted, quality service to customers.

Requirements

• College or university degree related to Supply Chain, Engineering, or Manufacturing or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis and problem-solving.
• Ability to accurately analyze situations and make informed decisions.
• Experience in the development and deployment of Supply Chain / Logistics Processes.
• Knowledge of transportation and ability to manage material transport.
