The Logistics & Facilities Manager is responsible for the overall management and administration of Logistics & Facilities for the Sheriff's Office. This role is performed under the direct supervision of the Major for Security and Operations, and the Manager is accountable for the use of delegated authority. The Manager will ensure that operations are well-coordinated and productive by managing procedures and coaching personnel. The responsibilities of this position are extensive, requiring a thorough knowledge of various processes. The ideal candidate must be competent and able to plan a variety of operational activities. They must also be an excellent leader capable of discovering the most efficient ways to run and manage major aspects of the Hampton Sheriff's Office. The ultimate goal is to safeguard and enhance the efficiency of the Sheriff's Office operations to facilitate accelerated development and long-term success. The Logistics & Facilities Manager will maintain the overall upkeep of the Hampton Community Corrections Center, Hampton City Jail, and Adult Intake. They will liaise with superiors to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals. The Manager will plan and monitor the day-to-day operations of correctional facilities to ensure smooth progress, supervise staff from different departments, and provide constructive feedback. Regular evaluations of business procedures will be conducted to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, applying improvements as necessary. The Manager will also manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resource allocation, overseeing customer support and correctional facilities operations processes to enhance customer satisfaction and employee performance in logistics, facilities maintenance, fleet management, property destruction, warehouse operations, special events, key control, and emergency operations. Special attention will be given to the daily operations of correctional facilities and workforce/inmate services. The Manager will ensure smooth facilities operations, security protocols, and efficient inmate management. They will oversee fleet management, ensuring proper maintenance and optimal utilization of vehicles, and manage facilities maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards. The Manager will also ensure efficient management of kitchen operations and laundry services, conduct inspections for compliance with policies and procedures, and prepare for health and sanitation inspections. They will conduct semi-annual and annual fire drills, prepare annual budgets, and participate in staff meetings, contributing to decision-making processes. The Manager will also create and implement a written Strategic Plan, train and evaluate assigned staff, and monitor compliance with policies and regulations. This role requires a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following all federal, state, and local laws.
