Responsibilities

• Establish priorities and allocate resources for wildland fire suppression.
• Supervise the mobilization, demobilization, and reassignment of fire resources.
• Manage fuels, weather, and intelligence data.
• Coordinate aircraft flight following for fire operations.
• Ensure safe and efficient practices are followed during operations.
• Develop and update Dispatch Operations Guide and Expanded Dispatch Plans.
• Assist in oversight of telecommunications equipment.
• Serve as a subject matter expert during training development.
• Share information with agencies, public, and media as needed.
• Provide day-to-day operations technical direction.
• Plan and assign work, and provide employee performance input.
• Give advice, counsel, and instruction to employees.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 level in coordinating dispatch operations and resource allocation.
• Education: Two full years of graduate-level education in a field related to fire work or a master's degree.
• Combination of education and experience may also qualify.
