About the position

The Logistics Management Specialist will work within the Operations Department, specifically in the Logistics Support Division of NAVSUP FLC Pearl Harbor. This role involves managing logistics services, analyzing supply and logistics issues, and coordinating various logistical operations to enhance the efficiency of the Logistics Support Division and shore infrastructure. The specialist will serve as a technical expert in logistics and supply management, ensuring timely fulfillment of logistical requests and providing recommendations for operational improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform logistics management specialist work related to supply and logistics issues.
  • Coordinate logistics services for empty pallet pick up with local DLA, commercial vendors, and Navy Region Hawaii Port Operations personnel.
  • Manage stevedore onload and offload of subsistence orders and Material Processing Center (MPC) deliveries to waterfront maritime customers.
  • Ensure timely fulfillment of routine logistical requests and channel complex requests to management for resolution.
  • Analyze service providers' support methods to identify deficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate Hazardous Material and Hazardous Waste delivery and offloads, providing husbanding services.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience as a Logistics Management Specialist equivalent to GS-07 or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience independently analyzing logistics management operations in support of ships.
  • Experience resolving complex operational shortfalls and limitations impacting logistics initiatives.
  • Practical knowledge of supply and logistics management principles and methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Department of Defense (DoD) logistics.
  • Graduate level education in a related field.
