About the position

The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning and directing operations to enhance productivity and efficiency within the logistics framework. This role involves providing leadership to dispatch staff, drivers, and owner operators, ensuring effective communication and economical utilization of vehicle facilities. The position requires a commitment to the company's core values and the ability to embrace technology in daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the daily fleet operation.
  • Develop policies, programs, and procedures for efficient operations of transportation systems and terminals.
  • Set schedules, routes, and assign drivers and vehicles.
  • Act as the first point of contact for operational information including store delivery services and driver concerns.
  • Submit recommendations for compliance with transportation policies and procedures.
  • Conduct continuous analysis of vehicle and driver schedules to increase efficiency and lower costs.
  • Review and analyze reports such as revenue and performance records to evaluate productivity and recommend changes.
  • Recruit, orient, train, and monitor progression of new drivers.
  • Monitor turnover and evaluate operation mileage, equipment, time off, and pay to minimize turnover.
  • Enforce compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
  • Direct operation and maintenance of equipment and communication systems; provide guidance to resolve technical problems.

Requirements

  • H.S. diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain preferred.
  • Three (3) years or more relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, warehouse or industry related field required.
  • Two (2) years or more managing and leading direct reports required.
  • Excellent knowledge of Transportation and/or Warehouse Logistics operations required.
  • Excellent knowledge of safety and security requirements required.
