About the position

The Logistics Manager for General Services at Mayo Clinic is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of various work units, including logistics, patient transport, and information services. This role focuses on ensuring efficient service delivery, managing budgets, and fostering a customer-centric environment. The manager will lead a diverse team, implement process improvements, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while supporting the overall mission of patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of assigned work units including logistics, parking, patient transport, and telephone operations.
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate activities within the General Services department.
  • Develop and maintain a customer-focused and efficient work unit.
  • Provide budgetary input and oversee the purchase of supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to resolve problems proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional and division policies and procedures.
  • Examine work processes to improve efficiencies and service outcomes.
  • Regulate staffing according to workload fluctuations.
  • Act as a primary change agent for staff and advocate for customer needs.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members for professional growth.
  • Provide orientation and training to new and current team members.
  • Participate in personnel actions including performance appraisals and corrective actions.
  • Engage in department committees and task forces.
  • Maintain knowledge of standards outlined by regulatory agencies.
  • Lead in emergency and mass casualty situations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field and 3 years of experience supervising diverse teams, or an Associate's degree with 5 years of experience, or a High School diploma/GED with 7 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills with strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to influence others and work collaboratively with multiple disciplines.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to resolve issues proactively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred.
  • Lean management and/or Six Sigma experience.
