About the position

As a Logistics Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the logistics operations for one of the largest government agencies in the nation, specifically the Department of Defense. This position is designed for a first-level manager who will oversee the activities of supervisors and individual contributors, ensuring that they operate with a degree of independence and effectiveness in their assignments. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the logistics schedule and implement a resolution process to address any issues that arise. You will be tasked with developing and managing performance requirements while operating within a defined budget. A key aspect of your role will involve identifying and strategizing cost-reducing tactics and efficiency improvements that add value to both business and customer operations. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining workplace safety standards to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. In this managerial capacity, you will handle hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews for your team. You will also advise your subordinates on meeting schedules and resolving logistics problems. Your ability to build spreadsheets to track and manage multiple tasks will be essential, as will your proficiency in managing Navy inventory across various databases, including MS Access, Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment (PIEE), and ERP systems. You will ensure the accuracy of reports submitted by your subordinates to comply with Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) and maintain full accountability of Government Material across multiple locations. Organizing and managing a warehouse of 24,000 square feet, which contains over 10,000 line items, will also be part of your responsibilities. Your leadership skills will be crucial in team building, mentoring, and developing your subordinates, as well as collaborating with other groups to achieve common goals and meet the mission. Adaptability and responsiveness to customer requirements will be key traits for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 20+ years of related experience in logistics management.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required.
  • Active secret security clearance required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, specifically Excel and Access.
