About the position

The primary function of the Logistics Manager at Arthur Schuman Inc. is to oversee the day-to-day operations of logistics and ensure efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction. This role is crucial in providing support for both international and domestic shipment operations. The Logistics Manager will act as a liaison with freight providers, third-party vendors, and supply chain business partners, ensuring that all logistics activities align with the company's goals and objectives. In addition to managing transportation-related projects and tasks, the Logistics Manager will focus on implementing sustainable savings and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires a proactive approach to operations management, where the manager will coordinate logistics and transportation activities to ensure timely delivery of goods while minimizing shipping costs. The role also involves leading and managing a team of operations staff, providing guidance, coaching, and support to enhance team performance and achieve operational excellence. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for vendor management, acting as the primary point of contact for transportation carriers and third-party vendors. This includes managing day-to-day outbound operations, identifying performance improvement opportunities, and leading initiatives related to vendor performance. Financial and operational reporting is another key aspect of this role, where the manager will create and maintain vendor scorecards, forecast quarterly spending, and support the freight bill audit and payment process. Project management is also a significant part of the Logistics Manager's responsibilities, supporting the Logistics Director and cross-functional partners on special projects and initiatives. This includes managing the annual freight bid process and assisting in the evaluation and implementation of third-party tools and services. The manager will also oversee outbound shipment management, acting as the point of contact between outbound locations and cross-functional partners, identifying risks to on-time delivery, and facilitating claims as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate logistics and transportation activities to ensure timely delivery of goods and minimize shipping costs.
  • Lead and manage a team of operations staff, providing guidance, coaching, and support.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Monitor KPIs, perform trend analysis, and utilize data to make business decisions and drive performance improvement.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for transportation carriers and third-party vendors for outbound shipping operations.
  • Manage day-to-day outbound operations with transportation carriers and third-party vendors.
  • Identify and suggest vendor performance improvement opportunities based on reporting and operational trends.
  • Create and maintain vendor scorecards for transportation carriers and third-party vendors.
  • Forecast quarterly spending for transportation and third-party vendors.
  • Support the freight bill audit and payment process and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the Logistics Director and cross-functional partners on special projects and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent supply chain industry experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operations management or related roles, preferably in a CPG environment.
  • Intermediate skill level in Excel and proficiency in other Microsoft applications.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
