About the position

The Logistics Manager is responsible for selecting and certifying transportation carriers and outside storage providers to ensure cost-effective logistics solutions for the OINA facilities. This role involves developing long-term partnerships with freight carriers, analyzing transportation needs, negotiating favorable terms, and ensuring efficient movement of materials and goods both inbound and outbound.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing, selecting, negotiating, and purchasing transportation for the company.
  • Coordinating all transportation providers to ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments.
  • Negotiating freight terms with carriers and developing strong relationships to support long-term needs.
  • Identifying and resolving transportation issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinating inter-plant transfers of materials and finished goods.
  • Ensuring standardized use of freight carriers for inbound and outbound transportation needs across all plants.
  • Supporting customer service and inside sales with transportation and logistics needs.
  • Evaluating freight carrier proposals and recommending changes as necessary.
  • Placing purchase orders and coordinating delivery of large powder ingredients.
  • Ensuring inventory accuracy of all outside warehousing for OINA facilities.
  • Assessing outside storage capacity needs and aligning with business needs.
  • Reviewing outside storage provider proposals and negotiating favorable terms.
  • Continually evaluating freight carriers for competitive rates.
  • Meeting with production scheduling weekly to review upcoming schedules.
  • Attending weekly Sales & Operations meetings to advise on material availability and supply chain risks.
  • Coordinating necessary transfers of materials based on production schedules.
  • Complying with safety guidelines and regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrating adaptability and managing diverse tasks effectively.
  • Recommending new processes or systems for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of related business analytics/project management experience, preferably in the food industry.
  • Experience in new product development and pipeline management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM tools.
  • Strong time management and document management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and influence consensus in a matrix organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the food industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with safety guidelines and regulatory standards.
