About the position

The Logistics Manager position in Wayne, NJ, is a direct-hire opportunity with a competitive salary starting at $65K, depending on experience. The primary responsibility of the Logistics Manager is to oversee supply chain management, ensuring seamless connections between sellers, suppliers, shipping vendors, and customers to guarantee timely product delivery. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with an analytical mindset capable of managing a dynamic system with multiple moving parts. The successful candidate will be instrumental in organizing and monitoring the storage and distribution of goods across various locations, working closely with the shipping coordinator to ensure that all scheduled shipments are picked up on time and addressing any carrier issues that may arise. In addition to managing outbound shipments, the Logistics Manager will conduct research alongside the shipping coordinator to resolve any shipping errors and oversee return shipments resulting from overages or customer refusals. This includes processing returns and claims as necessary. The role also involves expanding and improving relationships with freight carriers, negotiating shipping rates and contracts, and maintaining schedules for inbound and outbound shipments with approved carriers. Utilizing logistic software and IT systems to streamline operations is essential, as is coordinating the order cycle of deliveries with the Purchasing department. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing resources within the supply chain, evaluating effectiveness, and working towards solutions to meet cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness targets. Additionally, the role requires resolving any arising problems or complaints and monitoring KPI reports to enhance on-time shipping percentages.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and monitor storage and distribution of goods to/from multiple locations.
  • Work alongside the shipping coordinator to ensure timely pickups of scheduled shipments and follow up on carrier issues.
  • Conduct research to address shipping errors alongside the shipping coordinator.
  • Oversee return shipments caused by overages or customer refusals and process returns and claims as needed.
  • Expand and improve freight carrier relationships.
  • Discuss and negotiate shipping rates and contracts with product carriers.
  • Set up and maintain schedules for inbound and outbound shipments with approved carriers.
  • Utilize logistic software and IT systems to streamline operations.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of previous experience in logistics or supply chain management preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation practices and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of the consumer goods industry.
  • Ability to act as a creative thinker and problem solver.
