About the position

The Logistics Manager at AFL is responsible for providing leadership and direction within the logistics department, ensuring that all activities adhere to corporate logistics procedures. This role involves supervising logistics teams, implementing tracking tools for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and managing relationships with transportation providers to enhance efficiency and service quality.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively supervise groups within Logistics to ensure all customer requirements are met
  • Provide guidance on the escalation process and review processes for adherence to policy
  • Review daily workload to ensure adequate availability of resources and lead cost reduction initiatives
  • Anticipate and resolve day-to-day issues, conducting root cause analyses and corrective actions
  • Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, including routing and shipping modes
  • Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers to improve service quality
  • Implement specific customer requirements for reporting and transportation metrics
  • Manage relationships with TMS/MTS providers and conduct regular meetings for updates
  • Review KPIs and customer requirements, ensuring accurate reporting
  • Visit local plants monthly to engage with shipping teams and conduct RFPs for various transportation modes

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in a Logistics-related field
  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience in logistics
  • 4+ years of logistics experience with TMS/MTS systems
  • Excellent verbal, written, and team communication skills
  • Strong systems skills, including proficiency with integrated software applications
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems
  • Computer and software knowledge required
  • Ability to interface with multiple levels of the organization
