The Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing all client and driver activities within Ryder's Supply Chain Solutions division. This position is based in Norwood, MA, and is essential for ensuring smooth communication and operations between customers and drivers. The Operations Coordinator is responsible for managing the logistics of equipment pick-up and delivery, ensuring that all necessary documentation is in order, and addressing any issues that may arise during the process. This role requires a proactive approach to scheduling, communication, and problem-solving, making it vital for the success of Ryder's operations. In this position, the Operations Coordinator will schedule deliveries and pickups with customers, ensuring that all freight details are communicated effectively to drivers. They will monitor driver performance and location on routes, promptly notifying customers of any potential delays or issues. The Coordinator will also prepare dispatch documents, generate freight bills and invoices, and maintain accurate records of dispatched calls and driver routes. Additionally, they will assist in training new drivers and ensure that all daily driver paperwork is accurate and inputted correctly. The Operations Coordinator will work closely with supervisors and customers to resolve any problems or requests for services or equipment. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to build professional relationships, and effective communication skills, both verbal and written. The ideal candidate will have a background in operations, logistics, or transportation, and will be proficient in Microsoft Office tools. Responsibilities

  • Schedule with customers regarding their delivery and pickups of their equipment.
  • Communicate with drivers regarding freight details, delivery or pickup times, special handling requests, important notices and announcements, and other relevant information.
  • Monitor driver location and performance on routes.
  • Promptly notify customers of potential delays and issues in advance.
  • Prepare dispatch documents, as well as generating freight bills and invoices.
  • Address minor delivery and pick-up issues raised by drivers, customers, and brokers.
  • Document work performed; maintain accurate, organized, and detailed records regarding dispatched calls, driver routes, route changes.
  • Schedule and dispatch drivers and vehicles to appropriate locations according to predetermined zones, customer requests or immediate needs as well as accommodating route changes as needed.
  • Relay information via phone, email or text message.
  • Speak with supervisors or customers to resolve problems, requests for services or equipment.
  • Organize work requests, customer requests, completed work requests, charges for work performed, expenses for services performed.
  • Assist training new drivers on processes.
  • Ensure that daily driver paperwork is accurate and inputted correctly.
  • Investigate customer complaints with regard to transportation-associated issues.
  • Complete additional tasks as requested by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • One (1) year or more experience in related fields (1-2 years related experience).
  • Operations background (Logistics and/or Transportation).
  • Meets corporate competency model requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow work procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to build professional relationships.
