About the position

The Logistics Operations Manager (2nd Shift) at Caterpillar Inc. is responsible for overseeing the efficiency of the transportation network within the Product Support and Logistics Division. This role involves managing three key areas: Yard, Specialized, and Autostore, and leading both leaders and an hourly workforce to ensure effective logistics operations. The position is focused on developing logistics plans, improving processes, and maintaining strong relationships with carriers and suppliers to support customer success and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing and developing logistics plans that affect production, distribution, and inventory specific to area of responsibility.
• Overseeing carrier selection and renewals.
• Participating in contract negotiations and interfacing with selected carriers necessary to maintain expected levels of service.
• Improving logistics processes through process improvement, prioritization, and project planning.
• Developing and maintaining cost estimates, forecasts, and cost models.
• Tracking costs and savings for all transportation modes.

Requirements

• Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
• Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).
• Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems.

Nice-to-haves
