About the position

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Specialist to join our team, responsible for managing logistics operations in a fast-paced environment. The role involves overseeing carrier procurement, managing relationships with carriers, and ensuring timely and cost-effective shipment processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively across various platforms.

Responsibilities

• Control outside carrier procurement, communication, and management.
• Manage new and existing carrier relationships.
• Negotiate rates to be cost-effective and locate dependable outside carriers for inbound/outbound shipments.
• Intervene in carrier billing and performance issues.
• Solicit carrier rate quotes and manage data to determine optimal carriers based on load origin and destination.
• Assist in gathering additional carrier data needed for setup and utilization.
• Manage, consolidate, and schedule load planning.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments considering geographic locations, routing, and timing.
• Schedule and record pickup and delivery appointments with time and mile understanding.
• Provide documentation to all necessary parties to ensure expectations are met.
• Follow up to ensure on-time pickup and delivery as needed.
• Act as the first point of contact to rectify issues with buyers, sellers, carriers, drivers, and warehouse/receiving offices.
• Work with Commodity Exchange Group on space availability and schedule appointments.
• Attend to regular, timely attendance to meet customer needs efficiently.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to multi-task and handle frequent interruptions.
• Ability to effectively communicate through multiple platforms (Email, phone calls, in-person).
• Experience working with Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel).
