About the position

The Logistics Supervisor (Dispatch) at Florida Rock and Tank Lines is responsible for overseeing the daily operations related to the scheduling, purchasing, delivering, and dispatching of petroleum products. This role requires making critical decisions that affect the financial outcomes of each load, managing driver workloads, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The position serves as a communication hub for employees, customers, and suppliers, and operates the terminal in the absence of the terminal manager.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, decide, and direct drivers on where and what type of product will be purchased.
• Make timely decisions to ensure profitability on each load.
• Evaluate and decide the amount of work to accept from outside customers.
• Distribute work evenly to drivers based on workload and available hours of service.
• Communicate with drivers via computer system to assign and instruct work.
• Contact non-inventory control customers to determine petroleum needs.
• Serve as the direct communication contact for employees, customers, and suppliers.
• Respond to customer orders, questions, and complaints appropriately.
• Address employee questions, concerns, or issues.
• Handle supplier concerns regarding policies and product allocation.
• Make decisions regarding mechanical failures and truck maintenance.
• Manage incidents such as accidents or product spills appropriately.
• Operate the terminal in the absence of the terminal manager.
• Evaluate and determine immediate disciplinary actions for drivers.
• Conduct driver performance evaluations with the Terminal Manager.

Requirements

• Transportation dispatching experience preferred, petroleum experience a plus.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Solid customer service skills.
• Proven decision-making skills.
• Solid Microsoft Office experience and internet-based application skills.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk short distances, bend, twist, stoop, reach, and lift 25+ pounds.
• Dependable and able to work on-call as requested.
